Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 3, 2026
Blip is a private feed for small friend groups. We built it so a handful of people can share moments with each other and no one else. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Blip (“we”, “us”) provides the Blip mobile app and the website at get-blip.com. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, reach us at [email protected].
Information we collect
Account information
You sign in with Apple or Google. We receive a stable identifier from that provider along with your email address and the name you’ve chosen, which we use to create and secure your account. You can set a display name, handle, and avatar.
Content you create
When you post, we store the moments you create (text, photos, videos, links, songs, places, ideas, and polls), your comments, reactions, saved collections, and any locations you attach to a post. This content is visible only to members of the groups you share it with. If you report a post, we also store your report and any note you add so our moderators can review it.
Media
Photos and videos you upload are stored and delivered through Cloudflare Images and Cloudflare Stream. Media is private by default and served over expiring, signed links — it is not publicly browsable.
Usage and device information
To run the app’s live features and notifications, we process: a push-notification token for your device, your online/typing status (presence), which posts you’ve viewed (view receipts), the groups you belong to, and timestamps for the actions above. We also record when you open the app (the time and your device’s platform) to understand how Blip is used, and we keep basic technical logs to operate and protect the service.
How we use your information
- Provide the core service — create your account, deliver your group feeds, and sync activity in real time.
- Send notifications you’ve enabled (for example, a new post or comment in your group).
- Resolve places you search for and generate previews for links you paste.
- Keep Blip secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content to show you ads.
Who we share it with
Your content is shared only with the members of the groups you choose. We use a small set of service providers who process data on our behalf so the app can function:
- Apple and Google — sign-in.
- Cloudflare — image and video hosting and delivery.
- Expo — delivery of push notifications.
- Google Places — when you search for a place, your query is sent to Google to return suggestions.
- Bright Data — when you paste a link into a post, its URL is sent to Bright Data to fetch the page and build a preview card; your account information is not shared with them.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of Blip and its users.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete a post, comment, collection, or group, we mark it deleted and remove it from the app. You can delete your account at any time from the app (Settings → Account): we anonymize your account and erase your directly-identifying information — your email, name, handle, avatar, and the push tokens for your devices. Content you shared into a group is retained but is no longer attributed to you (it appears from a “Deleted user”); residual copies are purged from our systems and backups in the ordinary course. You can also reach us at [email protected] for help with any request.
Security
Access to the app requires authentication, media is private and served only through short-lived signed URLs, and traffic is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data with appropriate safeguards.
Children
Blip is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can export a copy of your data and delete your account directly in the app (Settings → Account), and edit your profile at any time. To exercise any other right, contact us at [email protected].
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we’ll provide a more prominent notice.
